Some Helping Activities for your pet

Hello,
These are some things that your pet may have trouble with in this quarter. If they do you can get extra practice using some of the things below!

• Finding hidden treats- all you have to do is hide a treat in a very easy spot, for example sticking out from under the rug so they can see it. After they have found it there then just keep doing it harder everytime. If you need help with this I will help them do it too.

• Doing Tricks- get some treats that your pet really likes a lot. Then do the trick that they have trouble on. For example if they have trouble dropping a toy hold up a treat and then if they really want the treat they will drop the toy. Once they have dropped it, give them the treat and say good job in a nice voice. If your pet cannot do a trick, just kind of push them to do it. For example if they cannot sit, push their behind down and then when they are sitting give them the treat. I will help too if you need it.

• Laying down and settling down (without barking or whining)- Have them lay down with you (they like to lay with you more than they do alone). Then pet them and sing to them or calmly tell them a poem or a story. If they still won't calm down, just lay there and pretend you are sleeping, the dog will get bored and lay down eventually. The dog will not lay down if you get up or start yelling, the dog will probably think you want to play. If you need more help I will help too.
